Applying logic and probability theory you can deduce realistically that 70 people attended this family picnic, plus or minus 10 depending on what time of year, location flu epidemic nationality etc. We are offered an amount of facts and information for what most people would conclude requires a thoughtful answer as to how many attendees there will be at a mathamatically impossible matching numbers of a peculiar family picnic (but lets forget about the tricky brainac conclusionary stuff). Most invitations to any large gathering require an RSVP or some idea of how much food space etc. must be planned. Family members often being somewhat self centered tend to forget about non family members so each of the 7 daughters must have husbands, X husbands, current and past boyfriends. As well the 5 sons spouses or exes or both. Now if this is a real family picnic most families have on average a certain percent of close family friends. Especially the children will have close friends, teddy bear peiople and house pets that mostly qualify as family. Some of these additional contacts will be taken along to the picnic by those parents who are most used to being transportation specialists. Now we are approaching a qualified number of attendees. And then of course there are opportunists like me who when spotting a free meal and entertaining crowds just can’t help but attempt to blend into the mix. Therefore I’m sure most of you by now have no doubts and can’t help but agree that out of a potential 141.8 identifiable attendees approximately 70 will show up. It’s all precisely
    relative.

At least 2 people, it does not say the other family members did go, but it also doesn’t say they DIDN’T go. Therefore, if you’re going to be intellectually honest you must say the amount of people that went a the picnic >= 2

Answer should be 2, read carefully it says Mr. and Mrs. Johnson went for the picnic, no one else was accompanying them. The number of children are given just to confuse you, the answer is given in the first line itself.

True but if the sons are married you must consider the fact that there may be more than one mr or mrs jonah and it could be split several ways so saying 2 is greater than or equal to is a closer answer.

It’s only 2 because it didn’t say the kids, grandkids, or great grandkids went with them!
